Adoption Guidelines

The download below is our standard adoption contract that will be completed and signed during the adoption process by anyone wishing to adopt an animal from Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue. Our number one concern is for the animals and we strive to place them in good, loving homes.

Please Read Before Clicking The Adoption Application Link Below…

Adoption Hold Policy:

If you are interested in a cat or kitten that is not ready to go home yet, you may request to place that cat or kitten on hold.  The adoption holds will be $60 for kittens and $50 for adults, and these are NON Refundable. The hold times will be determined during the meet and greet.  If a cat or kitten is not on hold then it can be given to another approved adopter.

If you do not make arrangements to pick the cat or kitten up within your given hold time they automatically come off of hold and will be available for other adopters.

Adoptions:
If you have submitted an application within the past 90 days, we will still have your application on file.

Before meeting one of our adoptable cats/kittens, you’ll need to complete an application and speak with an Adoption Counselor. During our review process we will contact you for a phone interview, but you can also email us at adopt@sunshinefarmcatrescue.org and we will respond to any questions you have.

Our requested adoption donations are:
Kitten (8 weeks to 1 Year) – $175
Adult (1 Year to 10 years) – $125
Senior (Over 10 years) – $100
Barn Cats$0 – $75

Our Adoption Guidelines

  • The cats we place are intended to be indoor only companion animals. We will not adopt to outdoor or indoor/outdoor applicants unless the cat was designated as a barn cat.
  • Adopters must be 21 years or older with a valid photo I.D..
  • We DO NOT adopt to college students living in student housing, on-campus homes or multi-student houses or apartments.
We limit our adoptions to those out of school.
  • All members of your household must agree to the adoption before it is finalized.
  • We will need to verify home ownership. If we cannot verify home ownership online, you will be asked to provide a tax document, deed or mortgage statement.
If you rent, we will need a copy of your lease stating that your landlord permits you to have pets along with your landlord’s signature and contact information.
  • We will place animals within the state of Pennsylvania or outside of Pennsylvania but still within a 65-mile radius of our address.
  • We do not adopt cats or kittens out as gifts for others.
  • The cats we place are intended to be indoor-only companion animals.
  • NOTE: Application for adoption DOES NOT guarantee acceptance for adoption and does not “Claim” the animal.
  • NOTE: All CURRENT pets in a household MUST be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccines before any adoption will be considered for approval.
  • NOTE: Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue reserves the right to accept or deny any application or potential adopter.

  • After you submit your Application…
  • Next, please reach out to our Adoption team to speak with an Adoption Counselor about the specific cat/kitten you are interested in adopting. The best way to do this will be by email at Adopt@SunshineFarmCatRescue.org.
  • An Adoption Counselor will respond to your inquiry with answers to your questions and help you set up a time for a virtual meet and greet, at which time the animals’ behavioral and medical histories will be discussed with you.
  • If you and your family are still interested in adopting, an in-person meet and greet will be scheduled.
  • All of the standard adoption guidelines above will apply.

Thank you for your interest in giving our cat(s)/kitten(s) a loving home.
